ABOUT THE ADVENTURES WITH STARLO VON SOURDOUGH

Adventures with Starlo Von Sourdough is a platform that includes a stop-motion animated adventure series, tech-games, and toys. The first season of the series is about an isolated, unconfident, agoraphobe named Starlo Von Sourdough, who receives help from lesser known gods to stop the forces who prepare for a prophesied battle that will kill the heart and soul of San Francisco. Over the series, Starlo must discern between lies and truth by traveling through secret portals to new worlds, make new friends, and build up his confidence through sports like the game of golf. Trouble is, Starlo is new to these worlds and has a huge heart for animals, life, and his home. These original stories are created by Ollie Anderson… who is known by underground art collectors for his extreme toy artistry @SanFrancisco_toys, and in the golf world as the golf professional who created the first gamified fitting platform in the golf industry. Will Starlo have what it takes to identify fact-from-fiction and take the right-action to save everything he loves? Will he choose between his own safety or the safety of San Francisco? SERIES SUMMARY

At first glance, Starlo Von Sourdough is a laughably naive, terribly uncoordinated and deeply caring creature who struggles to find safety in the cold, corrupt, city of San Francisco. But Starlo isn’t just any creature, he is a ‘diamond in the rough,’ destined to fulfill an ancient prophecy that will take him on an epic, surreal and slapstick journey.

Stumbling through mythic landscapes, he befriends many odd entities with startling powers, and like the Greek gods of yore, these lesser gods are petty, flawed and mighty… and they don’t know what to make of Starlo. With his weirdly positive nature, Starlo can’t help but bring together this band of powerful, misguided, and sometimes evil misfits on a larger-than-life quest for a fabled treasure that may hold the answer to their dreams… or the cost of the people of San Francisco… their hearts and souls .

Starlo Von Sourdough and an infamous cheater throughout history, DITR, must cross the multiverse to distant worlds in search of answers to stop the forces who prepare for a prophesied battle that will kill the heart and soul of San Francisco. Along the way they will explore stunning, mythical landscapes, search for historical treasures, and learn secrets to face fearsome enemies. The threat of the end grows ever closer. Starlo and the gods must choose between their own safety and the safety of San Francisco.

By the end of the series, the platform and full-ensemble of characters is revealed in Starlo Von Sourdough’s spiritual journey. No spoilers.

WHY GOLF? WHY HAVE AN EPISODE ABOUT LEARNING GOLF?

Not many people realize the magnitude of golf’s impact. For example, not one sport contributes more to charities than golf. And in a time where people desperately need economic help, growing the game of golf creates a bigger support network to help people. Anyone can play golf, I’ve seen blind persons and even persons without arms or legs be able to play golf thanks to companies like PING… It’s often one of the few things that help people with PTSD, like soldiers, and reduces suicide rates. Golf helps people gain confidence and that’s what Starlo needs to develop if he’s going to be successful in his journey to save our multiverse.

When Covid first hit, San Francisco City Officials were shutting everything down before the rest of the country, including golf courses. Ollie Anderson felt compelled to advocate the reopening up golf courses. “There was no compelling data to shutdown an outdoors business that has social distancing built into it.” Within six months, Ollie created what he calls a “rapid prototype,” a 7 minute experimental proof-of-concept, BUNKERS.

When Ollie was creating BUNKERS, he was inspired by people he met at the Solheim Cup in Scotland (a world golf event that supports women getting equal treatment to men). More than one person asked the same question, “How do we make learning the rules of golf fun?” This sparked a fun challenge for Ollie Anderson because he was a former golf professional. Could he make one of the most boring subjects fun? With all of the world wide awards he won… that’s probably a yes… But according to more than one critic, “You don’t have to like golf to love this show.” It pushes art to new levels and your entire family can watch. Each generation pics up on something different and it’s creating conversation and community between all ages.

The audience may be the biggest winner in all of this because they actually learn genuine rules of golf and techniques to play better. In GREENS, the audience learns the Mind’s Eye Putting Technique which is a real thing. It’s a technique, sometimes called “heads up putting” and helps golfers become better long distance putters (aka lag putting).

We started testing this idea with a seven-minute-experimental, proof-of-concept turned M.V.P. called “BUNKERS,” and it won awards such as Best Animation, Best Visual FX, and Audience Choice from film festivals worldwide. Here’s the summary of BUNKERS:

After discovering part of an ancient golf course in the jungles of San Francisco, the worst golfer in the world, Starlo Von Sourdough, learns that he can retrieve the treasure of eternal life. Trouble is, it’s guarded by a very dangerous, “mythological” Bunker Shark and Starlo will have to play a mystical golf hole by the rules of golf in order to survive. Starlo learns not all information that we’re given is true. Violence is not the answer, but perhaps a bit of “play” can help us all.

Isolated, unconfident and desperate for new friends, the worst golfer in the world, Starlo Von Sourdough, joins an augmented reality putting tournament. He is unknowingly being tested by an infamous cheater throughout history, the god of the zephyr wind, who goes by the name of DITR, an acronym for Diamond In The Rough. 

Meanwhile, Starlo’s only friend, a mythological creature scientifically known as a Western Stripe-Backed Carcharodon Atrox, aka Bunker Shark, becomes deathly sick. Starlo learns about a secret elixir that can save his only friend the Bunker Shark, but it requires a spell to be broken that will free the goddess of spring, Springbird, DITRs beloved.  Starlo receives special instructions on how to retrieve the elixir which requires him to travel through a secret portal to an ancient golf course with a putting green so mean, legend has it that giant elephants were buried underneath it. 

Trouble is, Starlo is new to golf and he must first learn the rules of putting & receive help from his old friend the Guardian of the Grass, a god who may have ingested too much grass. 

Starlo goes on to face the trials of DITR where he learns a mystical putting technique and is gifted the greatest putter ever built, created by the god of golf equipment, so that he just might acquire the only thing that will save his best friend’s life…and possibly unfreeze the goddess of Spring….

Will Starlo save his only friend the Bunker Shark? Will he reveal the secrets of the mysterious god of the zypher wind and break the spell to free his beloved Springbird?  If you can find all the easter eggs, you just may find out in GREENS.
